“I have the choice of being constantly active and happy or introspectively passive and sad. Or I can go mad by ricocheting in between.”
— Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath English version:
In the hospital today: I: I would like to donate blood. The receptionist: You have to go to ... (explaining) Random woman: You are a sky! Version española: En el hospital hoy: Yo: Quiero donar sangre. La recepcionista: Tiene que ir a ... (explicando) Mujer aleatoria: Eres un cielo! "Often, we get crushes on others not because we truly love and understand them, but to distract ourselves from our suffering. When we learn to love and understand ourselves and have true compassion for ourselves, then we can truly love and understand another person." - Nhat Hanh
Yeah, I had to give them some examples illustrating the meaning. The first one was "I am independent because I live alone and I pay my bills." It felt so wrong the moment I finished saying it!
When I left work I gave it a thought. Of course, I am not independent I always know if I am in need of money, I can just tell my dad. Blah, I hate this fact. Anyways, more important this led to another idea - the question of freedom! The more I fight for freedom, the more enslaved I become. |
